Startup Energy Transition (SET)

The SET Award is an international competition for start-ups and young companies worldwide who are working on ideas affecting global energy transition and climate change. There are six different categories applicants can present their projects in. The 2018 categories reflect the critical issues facing innovation needed for the energy transition globally.

2018 Nigeria Off-Grid Energy Challenge

Deadline: February 2, 2018

USADF and All On have opened the application period for the 2018 Nigeria Off-Grid Energy Challenge, which will provide $100,000 per enterprise for successful applications, following the announcement last month of a $3 million public-private partnership between the two organizations.

The Challenge will consider proposals from 100% African-owned and 100% African-managed enterprises who may be developers of their own technology and/or acquiring and implementing technologies developed elsewhere. Successful applicants will receive up to $100,000 in the form of 50% returnable capital from All On and 50% grant seed funding and technical assistance from USADF.


6th Funding Cycle for Renewable Energy Projects from the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), is inviting applications for renewable energy projects in developing countries. Within the framework of the ADFD-funded US$350 million (AED1.285 billion) IRENA/ADFD Project Facility, the current funding round of US$50 million in concessional loans marks the sixth of seven annual cycles.


European Commission -- Renewable Energy for the Philippines 

Deadline: February 19, 2018

The EC calls for concept notes that promote renewable energy for climate change adaptation and mitigation in the Philippines. Grants will range from €1.5 million to €3 million, varying with cost shares. Eligibility for funding extends to nonprofit organizations, public sector operators, local or national authorities, international (inter-governmental) organisations, and electric cooperatives in EU member states and other countries eligible under the DCI Regulation.

USICEF aims to accelerate progress towards India’s renewable energy and energy access goals, by supporting early stage development of distributed solar power projects and helping to catalyze long-term financing. USICEF invites distributed solar power project developers who operate in the following categories in India to apply for support: Mini-Grid & Micro-Grid Power Generation, Market-Based Solutions, Renewable Energy Infrastructure Catalyzers.
