Microenterprise Fintech Innovation Challenge

Deadline: October 1, 2018

The UNCDF SHIFT and UN Pulse Jakarta Challenge Fund is targeted at solutions that are ready for pilot testing and will provide up to $50,000 of co-funding to selected projects. 

Eligible applicants who can apply for the Challenge Fund Window include: regulated Financial Institutions (Banks, MFIs); Payment Service Providers; Agent Banking Aggregators; Mobile Network Operators; technology providers; E-commerce platform providers; Manufacturing and trading related companies; FinTech companies and tech start-ups.


REACT SSA Burkina Faso Competition

Deadline: October 12, 2018

The AECF's engagement in the energy sector under REACT SSA is designed to catalyze the private sector to increase supply of cleaner fuels, raise awareness of the dangers from indoor air pollution, demonstrate how new knowledge in renewable energy technologies can be put into practice in ways that benefit the poor especially women, provide evidence on challenges in policy formulation and implementation 

The REACT SSA competition is open to private sector enterprises with relevant renewable energy businesses in one or more of the seven participating countries.

Energy Catalyst round 6: transforming energy access

The Department for International Development (DFID) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) will invest up to £10 million in innovation projects. These must encourage technology that will help countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia access secure, low cost and low carbon energy.

The aim of this competition is to support highly innovative, market-focused energy solutions in any technology or sector or international market. To be in scope for this round your project must meet the needs of people, businesses and services in Sub-Saharan Africa or South Asia.

Unreasonable East Africa 2018 month programs

Deadline: December, 2018 (UEA2018A) / April, 2018 (UEA2018B)

We provide multidimensional support to entrepreneurs and their businesses across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our team and network of experts have either built their own businesses, or have specific experience and expertise in multiple areas related to building a successful business. This includes – but is not limited to! – strategic planning, raising investment, building efficient & effective operations, sales, marketing and team building.

We select and exclusive group of 10-15 businesses for each of our 10-month programs.

7th cycle IRENA/ADFD Project Facility

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is pleased to announce the opening of the seventh cycle of the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility.

More than USD 50 million in concessional loans from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) are available for government-driven and national priority renewable energy projects in developing countries that are replicable, scalable and potentially transformative. 

Summary project proposals for this funding cycle will be accepted through the Facility’s online system between 12 November 2018 and 14 February 2019, however applicants can begin working on their proposals online now.

USICEF invites distributed solar power project developers who operate in the following categories in India to apply for support: Mini-Grid & Micro-Grid Power Generation, Market-Based Solutions, Renewable Energy Infrastructure Catalyzers.


PFAN Call for Proposals for Climate & Clean Energy Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

PFAN has launched a call for proposals for climate and clean energy projects and businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. Selected projects will receive coaching from experienced professionals and will be introduced to interested investors. Entrepreneurs looking to initiate or scale-up clean energy or other climate change-related projects and seeking an investment of up to $50 million are invited to apply.
