REACT SSA Liberia Competition

The AECF's engagement in the energy sector under REACT SSA is designed to catalyze the private sector to increase supply of cleaner fuels, raise awareness of the dangers from indoor air pollution, demonstrate how new knowledge in renewable energy technologies can be put into practice in ways that benefit the poor especially women, provide evidence on challenges in policy formulation and implementation 

The REACT SSA competition is open to private sector enterprises with relevant renewable energy businesses in one or more of the seven participating countries.


REACT SSA Mali Competition

Call for Electrical Storage Start-ups

It’s an exciting time due to electrification growth, and InnoEnergy is at the heart of the market. We’ll support the 15 best start-ups with a tailored programme to help make your idea happen. That might include technology development, market access and development; team creation or funding access. Plus, the best start-up will win €100.000.


Access to Energy Fund Program

Deadline: November 25, 2018

EDP- Energias de Portugal S.A, through its new “A2E CSR FUND” is committed to improve the lives of people in poverty and strongly believes that access to energy is a necessary condition to break the poverty cycle, allowing the social and economic development in remote rural areas.

The fund will focus on five major themes for which energy makes a key contribution: education, health, water and agriculture, business and community. For its 1st edition (2018-2019), EDP will support projects in Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania.

EDP invites your organization to collaborate on its communication and dissemination, and if it is the case, to submit an application to our funding program.

The submission period goes from the 22nd October 2018 until the 25th November 2018, with the communication of the selected projects until the 21st of December 2018.

December 2018

The Lab call for ideas for financial instruments

Deadline: December 19, 2018

The Lab is seeking ideas for financial instruments that can unlock investment for climate mitigation and adaptation projects in developing countries. This year, the Lab has a special call for ideas that target sustainable agriculture for smallholders in West & Central Africa, sustainable energy access, blue carbon in coastal & marine ecosystems, and sustainable cities. Ideas that target other sectors will also be considered.


Unreasonable East Africa 2018 month programs

Deadline: December, 2018 (UEA2018A) / April, 2018 (UEA2018B)

We provide multidimensional support to entrepreneurs and their businesses across Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Our team and network of experts have either built their own businesses, or have specific experience and expertise in multiple areas related to building a successful business. This includes – but is not limited to! – strategic planning, raising investment, building efficient & effective operations, sales, marketing and team building.

We select and exclusive group of 10-15 businesses for each of our 10-month programs.

***NEW*** Efficiency for Access Coalition R&D open call

Deadline: January 16, 2019 (goes live on November 15, 2018)

The Efficiency for Access Coalition’s new grant fund for research and development projects aims to accelerate the affordability and efficiency of a range of low energy inclusive appliances suited to developing country contexts. The first round of the grant fund is valued at £1 million. The application window for the first round of grants goes live on 15 November 2018 and will be open to all organizations that meet the application criteria. Submissions for applications will close on 16 January 2019 at midnight (GMT). 7th cycle IRENA/ADFD Project Facility

Deadline: February 14, 2019 (opening on November 12, 2018)

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is pleased to announce the opening of the seventh cycle of the IRENA/ADFD Project Facility.

More than USD 50 million in concessional loans from the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) are available for government-driven and national priority renewable energy projects in developing countries that are replicable, scalable and potentially transformative. 

Summary project proposals for this funding cycle will be accepted through the Facility’s online system between 12 November 2018 and 14 February 2019, however applicants can begin working on their proposals online now.

US-India Clean Energy Finance Initiative Call for Applications

USICEF aims to accelerate progress towards India’s renewable energy and energy access goals, by supporting early stage development of distributed solar power projects and helping to catalyze long-term financing. USICEF invites distributed solar power project developers who operate in the following categories in India to apply for support: Mini-Grid & Micro-Grid Power Generation, Market-Based Solutions, Renewable Energy Infrastructure Catalyzers.


PFAN Call for Proposals for Climate & Clean Energy Projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

Deadline: open-ended call for proposals without a deadline

PFAN has launched a call for proposals for climate and clean energy projects and businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa. Selected projects will receive coaching from experienced professionals and will be introduced to interested investors. Entrepreneurs looking to initiate or scale-up clean energy or other climate change-related projects and seeking an investment of up to $50 million are invited to apply.


Shell IdeaRefinery
